ITINERARY
We’re still figuring out the details, but here are the basics:
Day 1) LISBON
Meet late afternoon for a short orientation walk around Lisbon and then have drinks and dinner together. We can arrange extra days in Lisbon for anyone who hasn’t been and wants to explore more. There’s a lot to see! Stay the night at the first of three historic hotels that are part of the “pousada” registry.
Days 2 & 3) SAGRES
Transfer south and explore the wild western part of the Algarve with a hike along the coast and a fun e-bike ride. We stay two nights in a historic pousada with a pool and views out over the sea.
Days 4-5) LAGOS
Kayak and hike along the dramatic coastline, with its colorfully striped pinnacles of limestone that form caves and grottoes between stretches of white sand beaches. Relax at your hotel in the afternoon and enjoy the peaceful garden and pool, or walk down to the beach for a swim. Walk around the lively historic center of Lagos at night and try the local seafood specialties. We also have a wine tasting lunch at a local winery.
Days 6 & 7) TAVIRA
Head east again to the charming town of Tavira, which sits on a series of lagoons that lead to tranquil islands. Meet local fishermen who show you their traditions and then treat you to lunch, and swim in the translucent waters of the Atlantic Ocean.
Day 8) DEPARTURES from FARO
Faro has an international airport as well as a train station. It’s also a cute town if you want to extend a day or two!
